My friends Freelancer Jenn (everyone gets a nickname at melsidwell.com!) and her delightful hubby Jeremy are sneaky folk. They invite you over under the guise of yummy delicious food and then *WHAM* you’re doing something new and challenging and out of your comfort zone …
Take, for example, this blog. Totally their fault.
One day, over lunch, I casually mentioned to Jenn my idea for The List, which included starting a blog and buying my domain name. Soon after, I was invited over to their sweet abode on the promise of learning how to cook tofu and by the time tofu stir fry was on the table, I had a blog and my domain name.
They invite me over regularly. I like that they think of me. They recently made turkey picadillo with quinoa. I like that they feed me. I like that they like me. I sure do like them.
They made a salad with blueberries. And walnuts. Stuff I would expect to see on oatmeal. And did I mention how I feel about fruit? But it was so incredibly pretty. And, hence being the year to try things, I tried the fruit on the salad.
And it was yummy delicious. And pretty.
So then they, and some rock climber friends who were over, start to talk about climbing. And how I’m going to climb. And how it’s going to be fun. And how I’m not going to die. And leave my daughter without a mother. And how I’m not going to die, did they mention that? (Let the record show, thankyouverymuch). And how much fun it’s going to be. Not dying sounds fun. Sign me up!
Piper, far left, and the unassuming yet sneaky Jenn + Jeremy. Note the menancing climbing rope in the background.
Careful, if you look into their eyes they will make you do things! Like vampires.
Only more Boulder-y. And in Longmont.
So the very sneaky + lovely friends and I will be rock climbing this Wednesday. And having lots of fun. And not dying. And just to be sure, when I come over for dinner, I always bring a tasty dessert. Which makes not dying even better.
