Concert? No.

Classic movie I can catch on cable almost every weekend but instead paid $10 to watch outside with 10,000 other people?
YES.

One of the things on The List this year was to attend Film on the Rocks. Red Rocks is a historic beauty that caters to my outdoorsy curiosity with its trails and stairs and my pop culture needs via concerts and movie schedule. I love movies and have attended the outdoor film series in Boulder and in Longmont. Upon inspection of this year’s schedule, only one date fit my hectic schedule: a Wednesday night showing of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Denver Jill gathered her posse and made things happen. And then we met the Governor who was sitting two rows ahead of us. You can read her account on her blog.

I love movies. I love Colorado. This experince was a really great combination of the two. I was happy to be surrounded by good people on a beautiful night with the lights of Denver beyond the rock formations I was sat on while cheering on my favorite movie scenes with thousands of other movie lovers. Save Ferris!

  • I love Colorado, too. Man I need to pay a visit. I went to so many movies on the rocks while there. The best was seeing Monty Python and the Holy Grail, because they handed out coconut shells to the first 100 or so people … it was AWESOME.
