About Me

Call me Mel or Melanie. People usually have their preference. I answer to both.

I am a former vagabond happily, proudly, firmly planted in Longmont, Colorado. I get paid to sneak into nearby Boulder Mondays through Fridays to write pretty things both in print and online. I used to write all kinds of things for newspapers and other print publications in Nebraska, Florida, and Colorado.

I consider Northeastern Pennsylvania, or NEPA, my hometown. I consider Lincoln, Nebraska, my home away from home. I consider Longmont, Colorado, my adopted hometown (and have no desire to live anywhere else, thankyouverymuch).

Together The Kid and I are navigating a world of one-parent households, expanding social lives, and life’s big questions. Like Big Girls do.

I unabashedly love: The Kid, Colorado, Nebraska, new media, coffee, good food, movies with subtitles (even when the movie is already in English), big beds, thrifting, manners, wit, kindness, conquering fear, photography, pretty things, good people, good questions.
