The List

The List for 2012 (because time’s a-wasting):

- Get my wisdom teeth out, finally (February 3, 2012 — it’s a date!)
- Get braces/Invisalign because my teeth are starting to get a little wonky
- Buy new eyeglasses (I’m thinking tortoise shell)
- Run a 5k every month, with the hopes of running a faster 5k
- Run the Lincoln Half Marathon
- Run the Warrior Dash
- Dress nicer for work
- Begin a master’s program of some kind
- Mountain bike my buns off
- Be rid of credit card debt once and for all (tax refund 2012, I’m looking at you)
- Make the blog better

 

The List for 2011, things I gotta try or do in my 31st year on God’s beautiful planet:
- get in the best physical shape of my life once and for all
- cut out cable television – DONE
- mountain bike with friends, with The Kid, for myselfDONE AND DOING IT!
- grow only pumpkins and pretty flowers in the garden this year
- attend the Easter sunrise service at Red Rocks - RAINED OUT
- visit the rumored Dunkin Donuts in Colorado Springs (can it be true?)
- climb more mountains. scramble more boulders
- run a faster 5k
- finish the Warrior Dash (and jump over fire like a badass)
- buy another piece of original art
- add belts in my wardrobe
- finally frame that USGS map of the Everglades (for the love of all that is holy)
- donate blood (because now I can)
- donate to public radio and/or TV
- visit NEPA (that’s northeast PA to the uninformed, it’s where I grew up) and go to a church picnic
- be a braver blogger: be more vulnerable, more transparent, more raw (but without the TMI)
- will someone PULLEASE teach me how to drive a stick shift?
- buy a pair of Frye boots (inspired by my friend Annie’s own purchase!)
- take more photos
- watch a meteor shower

In 2010, my 30th year, I made The List, a celebratory to-do list, which included:
- renew my passport – DONE
- donate blood - POSTPONED UNTIL APRIL 2011
-  buy my domain name - DONE
- start my blog - DONE
- get an annulment - DONE
- climb a 14er - DONE
- run the Bolder Boulder a race of some kind – DONE
- buy (and wear) a bike helmet – DONE
- attend church at least once - DONE
- get a Brazilian - DONE
- buy a piece of art - DONE
- learn how to grill a good steak
- scan in all the (hundreds of) photos I took in high school – DONE- DONE
- watch something that everybody seems to love (The Godfather Trilogy, LOST, Dexter, etc.) from start to finish
- rock climbing (suggested by Jeremy and Jenn Fields, who promise to take me and not let me get killed. Also, blame them for this blog) – DONE
- attend at least one Film on the Rocks - DONE
- run the stairs at Red Rocks
- volunteer at least once
- host something at least once - DONE
- buy farm fresh eggs
- take swim lessons - DONE
- learn how to drive a stick shift
- donate money to public radio
 - buy an American flag and learn how to hang it correctly
- learn how to fold a fitted sheet – DONE
- attend a farm to table dinner at a local farm - DONE
- try acupuncture
- pay for the order behind me at a drive-thru
- get a new recipe book – DONE
- visit the sand dunes in Colorado - DONE
- visit the sandhills of Nebraska
- frame and hang in my house a 1965 USGS map of the Everglades I bought for $5 at a Longmont thrift store in 2004
- take snowboarding lessons
- head up to the mountains more than once
- buy snowshoes and use them
- pay off my credit card
